Sean Murphy-Bunting contract: How much will Super Bowl-winning CB earn with Titans?
Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting is leaving the franchise. The Super Bowl-winning CB has agreed to a one-year deal with the Tennessee Titans in free agency.
Murphy-Bunting was one of the best remaining free agents available and became the first big name to be signed on Monday, March 20.
The Titans haven't been as active in free agency as other teams. Before it started, they cut Robert Woods, Randy Bullock, and Taylor Lewan, and also released Bud Dupree.
Sean Murphy-Bunting' Tennessee Titans contract breakdown:
Per The Score, Murphy-Bunting signed a one-year deal with the Tennessee Titans and is set to make only $5 million this season.
That's fairly cheap for a decent cornerback who has started the last four seasons. Last season, he recorded 31 tackles, one forced fumble, two interceptions, and seven pass break-ups.
In his career, he has become a Super Bowl champion, and has 188 tackles, one sack, four forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, six interceptions, and 21 pass break-ups.
Sean Murphy-Bunting's madden rating:
Murphy-Bunting currently has a Madden rating of 77 according to Maddenratings.com. Ironically, that is the same rating that he started with during Madden's launch.
Throughout the entire season, he has maintained a 77 overall. He has a Man to Man Archetype and a Long Stride Default Running Style.
Could Kevin Byard be on his way out with Sean Murphy-Bunting signing with the Titans?
Everyone in the Titans secondary should be happy with the Murphy-Bunting signing, except for maybe safety Kevin Byard.
Byard has a cap hit of $19.6 million this season, which is the second-most on the roster behind quarterback Ryan Tannehill. The team has asked him to take a pay cut which he seems to refuse, which could end up in his release.
The Titans may have signed Murphy-Bunting to their secondary as insurance just in case they have to release the veteran Byard. Either way, Murphy-Bunting is a solid addition to the Titans' secondary.
