“Seems a bit exaggerated” – Richard Sherman chimes in on Russell Wilson’s bizarre high knees episode
Russell Wilson caught the attention of many around the NFL in the build-up to the NFL London game between the Denver Broncos and Jacksonville Jaguars. He claimed that for four of the eight hours of the long flight to England, he was working out. He said his routine included doing high-knees up and down the aisles of the plane while the rest of the team was sleeping.
Richard Sherman discussed his thoughts on the situation during a recent episode of The Richard Sherman Podcast:
"Guys, veterans especially. You're on an eight- or nine-hour flight. Everybody's going to tell you, 'Hey, you need to get up and move around. You need to try to get your blood flowing.' Because otherwise, you've got to play a game eventually, and you're going to be stagnant. You're flying across the pond and it's going to be different. But for four hours? Four hours is a bit excessive. It seems a bit exaggerated."
Sherman continued:
"I mean, he's breaking a sweat. I don't know what kind of aisles they had, but four hours is a bit long to do anything. I don't know many players who work out on a regular day for four hours. But it worked. They got the win, and in the National Football League, that's all that matters. You get the win, if you got a voodoo doll in your locker, keep it in there, because we need to win next week too."
Richard Sherman thinks Russell Wilson may have been exaggerating the story a bit. He also pointed out that it's all basically irrelevant at this point because he got the win. Sherman apparently believes that as long as it's working, Wilson shouldn't change a thing about his unique routine.
Russell Wilson helped the Broncos end their losing streak
The Broncos entered Week 8 on a four-game losing streak. They desperately needed a victory against the Jaguars in London to remain within striking distance of the playoffs. A victory would keep them within two games of a Wild Card spot.
While Russell Wilson was unspectacular in the game, he did enough to help the Broncos record a much-needed win. He also showed some resiliency as the Broncos trailed 10-0 in the first half and 17-14 in the fourth quarter. He finished by orchestrating a game-winning drive, resulting in a touchdown with less than two minutes remaining.
Russell Wilson is hoping this win will give the Broncos some momentum moving forward. They are just 3-5 so far during the 2022 NFL season, but have plenty of time to turn things around. This could be the starting point.
