Shannon Sharpe breaks silence after NSFW IG live video goes viral - "I am embarrassed"

Shannon Sharpe has fallen into controversy, and he has much regret about it. On Wednesday, an Instagram livestream from his account emerged that heard a woman moaning throughout and saying his name.

It has elicited plenty of jokes and reactions from fans, but the Hall of Fame tight end is not among the amused. Initially claiming that his account had been hacked, he eventually admitted on Wednesday's episode of his Nightcap podcast that he had been doing the deed with the woman in the video:

"I am embarrassed. Someone that is extremely private, and to have one of your most intimate details, the audio heard for the entire world? I'm embarrassed for a number of reasons... I'm very disappointed in myself, not for the act but to have your most intimate detail heard."

He then expounded on the events behind the video:

"I've never been on IG Live. I've never turned (it) on. So I don't know how it works. And so all of a sudden, my other phone is going off, and people are calling me that I've never talked to a day in my life on FaceTime, and I'm like, 'why are y'all calling me?'
"After a while, Jamie, I mean, he said, Shannon, you on IG live... He says, they can hear. I said, 'Hear me doing what?' He says It sounds like you were having sex. Man, my heart sank. It dropped."

Shannon Sharpe’s IG Live scandal comes after professionalism comments toward Chad Johnson

Getting caught in a scandalous video is bad enough for Shannon Sharpe, but what makes it arguably worse are these comments that he made to Nightcap co-host Chad Johnson about professionalism last week.

The former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver had admitted to being late to the recording after his rideshare driver inadvertently took off with his keys still inside the car, prompting Sharpe to say:

“You say you want to be professional, you want to do ESPN, you want to do all these professional things, but you want to take a bootleg ride. Let me know how that works out for you.”

He would later clarify the situation:

“What I am going to do is I’m going to push, pull, drag Ocho to a level that he didn’t think he could get to. When you go to a studio, they want a timeslot. OK, what timeslot do you want to be in, and can we account for you being in that slot? Yes. So I want Ocho to take it seriously.”

Both videos can be seen below:

Johnson has since defended Sharpe for his IG incident, calling it “unfortunate” and him “my dawg”.
