Skip Bayless christens Tom Brady the ‘Daniel Jones’ of broadcasting: “He drove me nuts with his Captain Obvious blabber”
Tom Brady might have had a stellar NFL career but his transition to broadcasting with Fox Sports has failed to live up to his GOAT status. TB12's knowledge and insights are unmatched regarding analyzing games, however, many including Skip Bayless are not impressed.
The legendary commentator, a long-time Brady fan, has now called the former quarterback, "the Daniel Jones" of TV analysts on "The Skip Bayless Show."
Bayless expressed happiness because the upcoming Sunday Night Football game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles will be broadcast on CBS instead of FOX. This means that instead of Brady, Tony Romo will be calling the game.
"As I've said, I don't know, twelve trillion times—Tom Brady was by far the greatest NFL player ever. By far. But as a TV analyst? He's nothing but Daniel Jones," Bayless said.
Bayless further vented his frustration over the former Patriots QB covering the Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers game at Lambeau Field:
"Tom Brady drove me nuts yesterday with his endless, giddy, Captain Obvious blabber. He just talks and talks and talks some more about what is just so cliché-obvious."
Bayless also said it was “Patriot Brady talking to the media," which lacked substance and was overly nice.
Talking about the Detroit Lions' 24–14 win over the Green Bay Packers, Fox's Lead NFL Analyst Tom Brady landed in trouble for his uncharacteristic critique.
Tom Brady faced backlash after condemning a referee's call during the Packers vs. Lions game
According to ESPN, Tom Brady must tread carefully when criticizing officiating decisions as he has minor stakes in the Las Vegas Raiders. If Brady crosses the line, he could be subject to penalties like hefty fines or suspensions.
However, Brady breached that code of conduct during Sunday’s Lions-Packers matchup.
Reportedly, the former quarterback was in the booth when Detroit Lions' Brian Branch was penalized for a helmet-to-helmet collision with Green Bay Packers receiver Bo Melton. Brian was ejected after a careful official review, which made Brady voice his criticism.
“I don’t love that call at all. I mean, obviously it’s a penalty, but, to me, that has to be serious intent in a game like this," he said.
Naturally, the most obvious concern next was how Brady's critique might not sit well with the league's regulations. However, later, an NFL spokesperson clarified the situation saying how the Hall of Famer was not "egregiously critical of officiating or called into question the integrity of an official or the crew."
