Skip Bayless showers high praise on CeeDee Lamb as WR takes home $136M extension

The Dallas Cowboys ended the CeeDee Lamb saga on Monday by making the star wide receiver the second-highest paid player in his position in NFL history. The Cowboys had a quiet offseason, failing to make flashy additions or re-sign Lamb, considered to be one of the best wide receivers in the league.

News of the signing sent Cowboys fans into a frenzy as soon as it was reported, including one of the team's most vocal fans. Veteran sports analyst Skip Bayless, a well-known Cowboys fan, took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share his excitement about this news, stating that Lamb deserved all the money he's getting paid on this new deal.

"I've said from the start, I'll take CeeDee Lamb over Justin Jefferson any day or night, and every time they went head-to-head, Ceedee has outplayed Justin Jefferson, who's never done much against my Cowboys. Ceedee Lamb deserved more money than Justin Jefferson is making because Ceede Lamb is much more than run-after-catch force," Bayless said.

Lamb proved last season that he's one of the best playmakers in the NFL, becoming a serious threat to opposing defenses, helping Dak Prescott and Micah Parsons lead the Cowboys to the postseason after winning the NFC East division.

Despite the disappointing end to the season, the Cowboys decided to retain coach Mike McCarthy, and bring back some players, including Lamb. After months of rumors and speculation, he's set to stay with the team and will be available for Week 1 of the 2024 season.

Only one wide receiver will earn more money than Ceedee Lamb after new deal

This new deal made CeeDee Lamb the second-highest paid wide receiver in league history. Despite making more money than some high-profile names like Tyreek Hill ($30 million), Amon-Ra St. Brown ($30.002 million), and AJ Brown ($32 million), he'll make one million less than Minnesota Vikings Justin Jefferson ($35 million).

CeeDee Lamb is coming off his best NFL season to date. After a rocky start where he surpassed the 100-yard threshold only once in the first five weeks, he was targeted no less than nine times for the rest of the season. He posted career-highs with 135 receptions on 181 targets. He posted 1,749 yards, 80 first downs, 12 touchdowns, and the longest reception at 92 yards.

In the postseason, the Cowboys couldn't get past the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Wild Card round, but Lamb still put on a show, with 17 targets for nine receptions and 110 receiving yards.
