Skip Bayless unveils the truth behind Matthew Stafford and Brock Purdy’s TNF struggles
The Thursday Night Football clash between the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers at Levi's Stadium was expected to be a high-scoring shootout. The visitors were coming into this game on the back of a 44-42 win over the Buffalo Bills, while the home team had thrashed the Chicago Bulls 38-13 on Sunday.
But neither offense showed up through three quarters on Thursday as the two teams combined to put up only nine points. However, analyst Skip Bayless sympathized with quarterbacks Matthew Stafford and Brock Purdy. He defended their dismal outings and blamed the inclement weather for their underwhelming performances. He posted on X/Twitter:
"I hate watching "bad weather" games. The great Matt Stafford threw for 23 yds in the 1st half. Brock Purdy threw for 96 as SF rushed for 20 yds! 11 total punts! Great players cannot play great in the rain. Maybe it will stop now."
