Skip Bayless warns Tom Brady amid bombshell split with Gisele Bundchen – “No such thing as a quickie divorce”
Tom Brady and his wife of 13 years, supermodel Gisele Bundchen, have announced that they are getting a divorce. The news sent shockwaves throughout the sports world. The couple have two children together: daughter Vivian Lake and son Benjamin Rein. Skip Bayless shared his thoughts on the divorce. Here's what he said on the Skip Bayless show:
"We had just seen and heard another round of insider quotes saying that Giselle had issued a new ultimatum to Tom: Quit, quit football or I'm gone. On October 28th, the divorce was finalized. That, according to a statement released by Tom and another statement released by Gisele. Mind-blowing. Trust me on this."
He continued:
"What Tom Brady is worth, I don't know, a reported $250 million, and Gisele is worth maybe $450 million. There are two children involved in this equation. There is no such thing as a quickie divorce."
The seven-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback shared his thoughts regarding the divorce on the Let's Go! podcast. Here's what Tom Brady said:
"There’s a lot of professionals in life that go through things that they deal with at work and they deal with at home. Obviously the good news is that it’s a very amicable situation, and I’m really focused on two things — taking care of my family and certainly my children. And secondly doing the best job I can to win football games."
He added:
"That’s what professionals do. You focus at work when it’s time to work. Then when you come home, you focus on the priorities that are at home. All you can do is the best you could do. That’s what I’ll just continue to do as long as I’m working and as long as I’m being a dad."
Whether Brady will be able to turn the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' disappointing start to the season around remains to be seen.
What led to Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen's divorce?
Tom Brady initially retired from the NFL before the start of the season. However, the retirement lasted all but a month or so when he decided to return to the NFL. Gisele was reportedly upset that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback played football this season. She reportedly left their home to travel to Costa Rica as the decision caused a major argument.
As the Buccaneers were in training camp, the three-time MVP was noticeably absent for 11 days. It was reported that he fulfilled a promise to Gisele to have a family vacation. Later, Bundchen was rumored to have given Brady an ultimatum between her and football. Soon after the news broke of the divorce from Bundchen, the former New England Patriots star shared a statement via Instagram:
"In recent days, my wife and I finalized our divorce from one another after 13 years of marriage. We arrived at this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together."
