Steelers’ $41,000,000 free agency addition Patrick Queen claps back at Ravens rival over offseason warning

One surprising offseason signing from this free agency frenzy happened when linebacker Patrick Queen signed on a three-year, $41 million deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Queen was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in 2020 and played the last four seasons on the Steelers' rival's team.

After a breakout season in 2023, Queen was named to his first Pro Bowl and was also named a Second-Team All-Pro. Hitting free agency, Queen knew he was going to sign a lucrative deal. Shortly after Queen signed with Pittsburgh, he praised the city and said it was a 'better atmosphere' for him.

Responding to Queen's comments, Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey warned Queen that the grass isn't always greener on the other side. Queen responded with a hilarious response on Wednesday with a video of him watering his green gas.

Humphrey also questioned why Queen was throwing shots at the city of Baltimore, stating it is better, its food is better and its colors are better than Pittsburgh.

The Ravens elected to not pick up Patrick Queen's fifth-year option, which made him a free agent this offseason. In the same time, they made linebacker Roquan Smith the highest-paid linebacker in the NFL.

The two have been teammates the last four seasons. Now, they will face each other on opposite sides of the field twice a season.

It isn't often that you see a player sign with one of their team's rivals upon hitting free agency. When it happens, it always brings more excitement to the rivalry.

While leaving Baltimore for Pittsburgh, Patrick Queen came to the new team with the goal of winning. Via The Athletic's Mark Kaboly, Queen pointed to head coach Mike Tomlin and the team's elite defense as two reasons of how the team can be a winning team:

"You have a great head coach, a defense that can ball, and puts you into a situation where you can succeed. I am at a point where I want to win. I know Pittsburgh hasn't won anything in a while, but they were in the playoffs so they have a chance to me."

Pittsburgh has yet to have a losing season under Tomlin's tenure.

The Steelers added quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Justin Fields after the team managed to go 10-7 with Kenny Pickett, Mitch Trubisky and Mason Rudolph last season. Adding Queen was their big free agent signing, as they had a solid draft adding OT Troy Fautanu in the first round.

Patrick Queen will line up next to linebackers Cole Holcomb and Alex Highsmith next season.
