Stefon Diggs trash talk falls flat against rookie CB during Texans training camp

Stefon Diggs is known to rile up teammates and foes alike. The wide receiver displayed his wit while at the Buffalo Bills and now has taken his talents to a new team. However, Diggs is facing a rookie cornerback who is going toe-to-toe with the veteran.

Diggs joined the Houston Texans earlier this year after spending five seasons with the Minnesota Vikings and then four seasons with the Bills. Kamari Lassiter was picked in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

After Day 1 of training camp, Lassiter said he was holding his own while covering Stefon Diggs. The rookie said to the media:

“I'm the type of guy like — I just stand on business. So, like, if there's smoke in the air, I'm going to blow it. When I make a play, I'm going to let you know.”

“I'm going to do whatever I want to do, and he's the same way. So, whenever he makes a play, I give him credit, but I'm like, 'OK, yeah, yeah, next time, it's going to be different.'”

A little moment of their exchange was also caught on camera and posted by the Texans.

Lassiter also lauded Diggs and stated that he is “learning” from the 30-year-old every day. However, he agrees that he has a long way to go, but he’ll be gaining a lot from the veterans on the team.

Stefon Diggs is impacting the Texans' personality

Stefon Diggs has brought his infectious competitive side to Houston. And Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans is loving it. After the inaugural day of training camp, Ryans said to the media:

“[Stefon] Diggs is competitive, but we have a team full of guys who are very competitive, and it shows every day that we are out here at practice, and I love to see it. You can talk about it, talk about it, talk about it, but when guys like Diggs show up and they put it into action on the field, that's what it's all about.”

The Texans’ camp will continue till August 22, and the final day will be a joint training session with the Los Angeles Rams.
