Steph Curry consults NFL superstars Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers for career longevity: "Next one is 40"

Four-time NBA champion Steph Curry turned 35 on Tuesday. While that seems impossible considering the way he still makes his presence known on the court, he plans to keep playing for years to come.

In a recent interview with Andscape's Marc J. Spears, Curry talked about his age and what that means for his basketball career. He talked about how longevity is a lot different today than it was when his father Dell, played in the NBA.

The Golden State Warriors star also said that he sought out the advice of NFL quarterbacks, Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers for any tips to continue playing at such a high level later in your career.

Currey said that he wanted to know what Rodgers and Brady did in order to further their careers. Brady, who just retired, played the 2022 NFL season at 45, while Rodgers is likely to play in the NFL this year, and will turn 40 in December.

“I talked to Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers and other guys who have been on the other side of the halfway point. I know quarterbacking is different, but you can check yourself [mentally] into not fast-forwarding too far. They really did a good job of disciplining themselves for what is happening in real-time.
"They’re 40 feeling like they can still play. I’m trying to stay in that mode. Thirty-five is a big milestone, but the next one is 40. The way I feel right now, who knows?”

He did add that while he knows playing in the NFL and NBA career are vastly different, he said the aging process is similar.

Steph Curry finished by saying that the way he feels right now, he feels as if he can continue playing but is leaving the door open.

Steph Curry sent thoughtful retirement message to Tom Brady

When Tom Brady released his second and as he says, final, retirement message, some of the biggest names in professional sports sent the best congratulatory messages on a long career.

Steph Curry posted on his Instagram stories shortly after the announcement. Here's what he wrote:

"Congrats and thank you for all the inspiration throughout the years!"

The NBA All-Star and MVP thanked the seven-time Super Bowl winning quarterback for inspiring him throughout the years.
