“Dak Prescott does not deserve to be mentioned in the same breath” – Stephen A. Smith goes off on Cowboys QB being compared to Patrick Mahomes
Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys improved to 10-3 after their close win over the Houston Texans in Week 14. Prescott led the Cowboys to a game-winning drive in a game that was much closer than many had expected.
After the win, Booger McFarland claimed that Prescott deserves to be mentioned in the same category as some elite quarterbacks. He mentioned Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow and Josh Allen.
However, Stephen A. Smith was having none of McFarland's take. He stated that Prescott doesn't yet deserve to be mentioned in the category of those elite quarterbacks. Here's what Smith said on First Take:
"How you gonna sit up there mentioned Dak Prescott in the same name as Joe Burrow, Josh Allen, Mahomes... Booger has lost his mind to roll with his brother."
Stephen A. Smith continued:
"I know that you do a great job. I ain't questioning the greatness of the job, but damn it something was wrong with you last night... Dak Prescott does not deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, Josh Allen just yet."
He added:
"Patrick Mahomes is a Super Bowl champion, Josh Allen been knocking on the door for a little bit now. Joe Burrow just was in the Super Bowl and Dak Prescott trying to figure out a way to win more than one playoff game. You need to stop it, stop it."
All three of Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, and Joe Burrow have achieved more than Prescott despite entering the league later than him. As a result, Stephen A. Smith doesn't think the Dallas Cowboys quarterback has reached that level yet.
However, Prescott now has a great opportunity to rise to the occasion this season and prove his critics wrong.
How has Dak Prescott performed in the playoffs in his career?
Dak Prescott is 1-3 in the playoffs in his career. In those four games, he has a passer rating of 87.9 with 1,048 yards, six touchdowns, and three interceptions.
Last season, we saw him struggle against the San Francisco 49ers and people had doubts about whether he was the right quarterback for the team. Prescott has played well this season, but everything will be in vain if the Cowboys fail to win games in the playoffs.
The Cowboys are likely to finish as the fifth seed in the NFC, where they could match up against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It will be interesting to see if Prescott can lead his team to a win or if Brady still has some playoff magic left in him.
