Super Bowl predictions: Grizzlies All-Star Ja Morant drops pick for Patrick Mahomes vs Jalen Hurts
Super Bowl Sunday is upon us and as Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts get ready to lock horns, NBA All-Star Ja Morant is paying keen attention to the matchup.
The Memphis Grizzlies superstar was asked about his Super Bowl prediction ahead of boarding a flight to Boston this weekend.
While most of his teammates, including big man Steven Adams, zigged, Ja Morant chose to zag.
Morant said:
"Imma go with [Patrick] Mahomes."
While Morant's fellow All-Star teammate Jaren Jackson Jr. also picked the Kansas City Chiefs, the vote among the Grizzlies was overwhelmingly in favor of the Philadelphia Eagles. Eight out of the 12 players polled on the Grizzlies picked the Eagles to win the Super Bowl this weekend in Glendale, Arizona.
While Super Bowl fever will grip the nation this Sunday, the Grizzlies will be in Boston to face the red-hot Boston Celtics.
Super Bowl Sunday: All eyes on Patrick Mahomes vs Jalen Hurts this weekend
While the Memphis Grizzlies are tipping Jalen Hurts to prevail over Mahomes' Chiefs, NFL fans on Sportskeeda are leaning towards the 2022 NFL MVP.
Sportskeeda Pro Football ran a poll this week asking who was more likely to be crowned Super Bowl MVP this weekend in Arizona. With nearly 9,000 votes cast, 51 percent of NFL fans picked Mahomes to take home the Super Bowl MVP award.
Jalen Hurts came in at second with 34 percent of the votes, while Chiefs TE Travis Kelce was third at 10 percent. Star Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown rounded off the poll, winning 5 percent of the votes cast.
The Chiefs and the Eagles are pretty evenly matched heading into Super Bowl Sunday.
Over on TikTok, however, the Chiefs are winning the game. Per Betway data analyzed via insight on hashtag numbers, the Chiefs are the clear winners with more than 50% more views (204M) on TikTok than the Eagles (95M).
Travis Kelce appears to be the most popular athlete this weekend on TikTok with over 60M views on content featuring the star tight end, followed by Mahomes (55M) and Eagles' Jason Kelce (41M).

Over on the field, the Eagles' defensive unit has been one to watch this season.
Philly's defense has been known to create tremendous pressure with just four rushers, and with Patrick Mahomes not quite at 100% yet, will the Eagles prevent the newly-crowned NFL MVP from creating mayhem?
The Chiefs still have a couple of game-changers in Mahomes and, of course, Travis Kelce, though the Eagles appear to be the more well-rounded team heading into the biggest game of the season.
One thing is for certain, though.
With all eyes on the grandest stage of them all, Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts will be itching to put on a show.
