Buccaneers insider not sold on team's idea of Tom Brady replacement for 2023 NFL season (Exclusive)

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers face the unfathomable task of replacing Tom Brady. The 23-season NFL veteran recently called it a time on his football career earlier this offseason.

But according to certain reports, the Buccaneers already have their replacement lined up. Some within NFL circles believe that the team's 2021 second-round draft pick, Kyle Trask, is set to take over from Brady as the team's QB1.

Trask entered the league following a stellar 2020 campaign where he racked up over 4,000 passing yards and 43 touchdowns with the Florida Gators. Buccaneers insider JP Peters isn't completely sold on the idea. While appearing on Sportskeeda's Ballfather podcast, Peters said how one shouldn't believe every report they hear during the offseason:

"Don't believe anything. It's a bunch of B.S. As you know, nobody wants to reveal what their plans are. We have free agency coming up, then we got the draft coming up."

Peters went on to explain how the team is likely far from making a concrete decision on who will be their quarterback next season:

"They have a lot of different options that they could look at now. Kyle Trask, as Dave Canales said the other day, is the only quarterback on their roster right now, so he's the only one they're going to talk about. So they're talking about Kyle Trask a lot.
"Jeff Darlington had a story the other day that, you know, the Bucs feel like Trask is the best quarterback in the division now. I don't know how that's possible (heading into the 2023 season.)"

Trask has only played one NFL game so far in his career to replace Tom Brady. It could take time for the young QB to get up to speed with the team's new offense despite being around in Tampa for two years.

With a new playbook set to be implemented by offensive coordinator Dave Canales, there's hope and optimism in Tampa. And for now, Trask is the best option to lead them to success unless the franchise goes a different way.

Former Buccaneers HC Bruce Arians expresses his confidence in Kyle Trask

With talks of Kyle Trask being Tom Brady's successor, certain questions are being raised about whether he will be up to the task. However, former Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians seems to have complete faith in the young stud.

While appearing on the Rich Eisen Show, the Super Bowl-winning Buccaneers coach assured fans that Trask is the right man for the job:

"I think we're in good hands with Kyle Trask. I love Kyle, he's been there two years now... Blaine Gabbert was a great mentor for him."

But even Arians didn't seem to rule out the possibility of the team potentially testing the waters for a new quarterback:

"Just like three years ago, you've got to search what's behind door number two. Three years ago, we never would've guessed Tom Brady was behind door number two. So you do your research, you do all your homework, and then you decide what's best for you. But right now, I'm very comfortable if Kyle's our guy."

There are plenty of big-name quarterbacks who could end up joining new teams ahead of the new season. One can rest assured that the Buccaneers will surely be in the thick of it all.
