Taylor Lewan finally breaks silence since being cut by Tennessee Titans

On February 22, 2023, the Tennessee Titans let go of long-time offensive tackle Taylor Lewan. The move clears up about $14.8 million in cap space for the Titans in 2023.

Lewan was expected to be cut and predicted 12 days before his release that the Titans were going to release him.

A few days after his release, he opened up about it on YouTube on "Bussin' With the Boys."

Lewan said:

"I don't want to get emotional... I was supposed to get cut Friday. And then and then I got moved to today. So when I found out yesterday, that was happening. I was really upset. And I was sad. And then I had a conversation with my wife last night, and today I woke up happy."
"Like, I there's a lot of things in the last three years that I wish I could change. I wish I didn't have an ACL, I wish there wasn't a PED and all that stuff. But at the end of it, like, I'm extremely proud of the career that I've had for the times. And I am extremely grateful for being a part of the Tennessee Titans for as long as I have."
"The Titans are in a much better position than when I first got there. So I'm extremely proud and, and to be honest, I feel I feel free. Really in a weird way."

Lewan spent nine seasons with the Titans. He has made three straight Pro Bowls from 2016-2018 and has started 100 career games.

He suffered a knee injury in Week 2 of 2022 that caused him to miss most of the season. Lewan is expected to retire this offseason.

I’ll be significantly more surprised if Taylor Lewan goes to play for another team next season. Feels like a clear cut retire or re-sign situation for him. #Titans

Taylor Lewan wasn't the only recent Titan to be released. The team also released wide receiver Robert Woods and kicker Randy Bullock.

Woods was acquired by the Titans last off-season from the Los Angeles Rams for a sixth-round pick. He finished the 2022 season as the leading receiver for the Titans with 53 catches for 527 yards and two touchdowns.

Bullock joined the Titans in 2021. He scored 17 of 20 field goals and went on to score a perfect 28 out of 28 extra points.
