"That guy's health represents hope": Craig Carton voices concern for Jets as Aaron Rodgers limps during OTAs
Aaron Rodgers has caused a stir online, not because of anything he said but rather due to an injury he may have sustained during OTAs. Multiple videos have surfaced online of the quarterback limping at practice, causing concern for one NFL analyst.
Speaking on Thursday's edition of the "Carton Show," analyst Craig Carton called for Rodgers to rest.
"The New York Jets need an adult in the room because Aaron Rodgers obviously felt something. ... Just pull him out, man. ... If he's got something going on with his foot, his ankle, his heel, because that guy's health represents hope. And that's all I got as a Jets fan, is hope, and hope for us as Jets fans is a dirty four-letter word," he said.
Aaron Rodgers suffered a season-ending Achilles injury just four plays into the 2023 season. Despite claims that he might have returned before the end of the season, the quarterback never set foot on the gridiron in a live situation.
Now, with questions looming about his health, some fans have felt doubt creep in for 2024. Before the videos surfaced, most expected the quarterback to have no problems starting the season healthy.
However, there now appears to be evidence that the quarterback isn't 100% healthy. With Rodgers now on the plus side of 40 years old, any injury seemingly could cause a spiral.
Aaron Rodgers treads tightrope in pursuit of first Super Bowl since Xbox 360 generation
The New York Jets quarterback has more to prove in 2024 than he did last year, and it appears to keep piling on.
If he performs exceptionally well this season, he will surpass his former mentor, Brett Favre, in one statistical category. Favre also moved from the Packers to the Jets during his career.
On top of that, he also needs to prove that he can remain healthy enough to do the job. After missing the entire 2023 season and now dealing with a potential injury in May, Rodgers is expected to not only make a Super Bowl push but also manage his health.
If Aaron Rodgers were to pull off a Super Bowl run, it would be his first since the Xbox 360 and PS3 video game generation concluded in 2013.
Tom Brady proved that it was theoretically possible to win a Super Bowl in one's 40s. Will Aaron Rodgers challenge that assessment? Let us know in the comments section.
