"That kid is pretty special" - Patrick Mahomes always had a supporter in Ant-Man star Paul Rudd
There is no questioning Paul Rudd's dedication to the Kansas City Chiefs. The Ant-Man star has been supporting Patrick Mahomes and the team for years, being present at every important milestone. Rudd has believed in Mahomes and his talent for years.
While on The Rich Eisen Show in 2020, Rudd spoke in detail about the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes, who won his first title during the 2019 season. As per Rudd, Mahomes was already very special.
"I do know that kid is pretty special. Pretty good," Rudd said.
Three years later, the Chiefs beat the Philadelphia Eagles to secure another title. Patrick Mahomes has led the team for seasons and only seems motivated to win more titles. Rudd, of course, also addressed the team's 'crazy' playoff history:
"We also have had history of losing playoff games in really awful crazy ways. I always felt like this was the case and nobody talked about because it was the Chiefs and unless you're from Kansas City nobody's really paying attention.
He also discussed the football pools he joined, which would turn into some sort of high-pressure situation for the 53-year-old. So much so that Rudd refuses to pick Chiefs games for his pools.
"I don't do any of that. I get too tied up in the head and I don't wanna jinx anything".
Paul Rudd (and his son) stole the show during the Super Bowl
There's a slim chance one could have missed Rudd and his son Jack's interview after the Chiefs' 38-35 win. While fans adore Rudd for his pleasant personality, his son seems to have won hearts.
"I’m so lucky that I am alive to watch this," Jack said. "And I just cannot believe he’s a real person. I don’t know how to explain it — I just can’t believe he’s a real person".
Fans also couldn't get over the uncanny resemblance between the two.
Rudd also appeared on "Late Night with Seth Myers" and almost quit as a fan after a bad playoff game against the Houston Texans.
"I was really upset and mad. 'Cause I thought, this is not - this is not worth it. It's just not worth putting yourself through this kind of despair."
The Chiefs' craze has also seeped into his family, with both his son and daughter growing up as Chiefs fans.
