The Onion mercilessly roasts Deshaun Watson, ‘conspiracy theorist’ Aaron Rodgers, and Brett Favre in annual year in review
The NFL has had a massively controversial year, with Deshaun Watson, Aaron Rodgers, and Brett Favre facing harsh criticism for their acts in recent months.
Recently, The Onion decided to take a shot at all three quarterbacks and made some statements about them. Those words were clearly tied to everything they have been chastised for this year.
For Deshaun Watson, The Onion wrote:
"I Was Under The Impression That The NFL Was Cool With This Stuff"
For Aaron Rodgers, The Onion wrote:
"Aaron Rodgers Downplays Rough Start As Normal Ups And Downs Of Massive Global Conspiracy"
While for Brett Favre, The Onion wrote:
"Brett Favre Makes Amends By Sending Photo Of His Pe*is To Every Mississippian On Welfare"
In the Mississippi welfare scam, Brett Favre was allegedly engaged in embezzlement of around $77 million. Favre has denied he knew that the funds he received for several initiatives were welfare funds.
Aaron Rodgers, the Green Bay Packers quarterback who lied about his vaccination status last season, revealed that he had consumed Ayahuasca and also talked about various controversial theories. As a result, many started to troll him for his statements.
Deshaun Watson finally settled most of the sexual assault lawsuits that were filed against him and made his return to the field. Not many liked the idea of him being allowed to play in the NFL, and he has faced a lot of heat this year.
Aaron Rodgers and Deshaun Watson have had tough seasons
Both Rodgers and Watson haven't had the best of seasons this year. Watson marked his return to the NFL after missing over a year and has looked rusty for the Cleveland Browns. The Browns gave up a lot to have him, and the former Texans quarterback will be determined to turn things around next season.
Rodgers lost the luxury of having Davante Adams this season. As a result, he hasn't been able to play at his best. New young receivers were introduced to the Packers team, and it has taken time for Rodgers to gel with them. The Packers are still in the hunt for the playoffs, and Rodgers still has an opportunity to shut down all his doubters.
