“The same thing I’ve seen in guys like Tom Brady” – Ex-Buccaneers RB claims Jalen Hurts has the same goods as seven-time Super Bowl champion
Jalen Hurts has taken a big leap and has transformed himself into an elite quarterback. There were serious doubts about him heading into this season, but he has removed them all.
The Philadelphia Eagles have the best record in the NFL and Hurts has led them from the front. Former Eagles and Buccaneers running back LeSean McCoy believes that Hurts has proved that he is the Eagles' franchise quarterback.
He even claimed that Hurts has shown poise like Tom Brady and that the former Alabama quarterback is on the right track.
Here's what he said about Jalen Hurts:
"I won't lie, I was critical of Jalen Hurts, I really was, but then when you really want now that's from you watching his answer all the questions. He's throwing the ball. Well, he's running the ball. He's running the offense like a true leader like a true General."
He continued:
"He's delivering. He got his team playing at a high level, and not only on the offense on the defense, like I heard my rattles rattles behind him. So yes, I think the same thing that I've seen in guys like Tom Brady. There's different levels."
McCoy added:
"Tom has experience he's different up here... Jalen said it, all right, and I believe it and he got them in Philadelphia playing lights out 11-1 football and I think what else you got to do? What else you got to do? Enjoy?"
Last season in the playoffs, Tom Brady destroyed the Philadelphia Eagles led by Hurts, but this season, the story could be very different. If the Eagles get to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this season in the playoffs, not many will back Brady and the Bucs in that matchup.
This further shows how far the Eagles have progressed with Hurts as their quarterback.
Jalen Hurts has a great chance of winning the MVP award
With a win over the Titans in Week 13, Jalen Hurts has made a solid case for being the frontrunner in the MVP race. The player has been playing at an elite level throughout the season and hasn't made any noticeable errors either.
He has a passer rating of 108.3 for 2,940 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions in 12 games this season and has also rushed for 609 yards and nine rushing touchdowns.
Mahomes will be the biggest obstacle in Hurts' pursuit of the MVP award, and the race between the two great quarterbacks will be quite fun to watch.
