“There’s so much evil in this world”: Jordan Love’s fianceé Ronika Stone devastated by Sonya Massey’s fatal shooting
On July 6, a woman named Sonya Massey was killed by a Sangamon County deputy in her house. The investigation has attracted significant media attention, making the heartbreaking incident mainstream. Many celebrities have shared their opinion on the incident, including Green Bay Packers star Jordan Love's fiancee Ronika Stone.
On Tuesday, Ronika Stone took to her Instagram stories to share her emotions about the Sonya Massey murder. Stone expressed feeling "sick" after watching the recently released heartbreaking bodycam footage of the incident. Elaborating on her emotion about the incident, Stone wrote:
"This made me sick. The fear in her face as she apologized and put her hands in the air...yet still, she was murdered. There's so much evil in this world," Ronika Stone said.
"Sonya Massey should still be alive. Praying for her family and for justice," Stone added.
Sonya Massey made a 911 call on July 6 to report a suspected intruder in her home in Springfield, Illinois. Two police officers, including Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office deputy Sean Grayson, arrived at her house.
According to the footage released by Illinois State Police, the two deputies searched Massey's front and backyard before knocking on her door. After following her inside, they asked Massey for identification as she sat on her sofa.
Before answering, Massey got up to remove the hot water pot from the stove and, according to The Times, said, “I rebuke you in the name of Jesus.” Sean Grayson responded with a "better not" before warning to shoot her in the face, per the media outlet.
Within a couple of seconds, as seen in the video, Sean Grayson took out his firearm and fired shots at her. After walking close to her, he took out his pocket radio to report a woman with a gunshot wound to the head. The Sheriff's office announced Massey dead at St. John's Hospital.
While Grayson has been arrested and indicted by a jury on three counts of first-degree murder, the heartbreaking incident took a toll on many, including Ronika Stone.
Stone has been linked with Packers star quarterback Jordan Love since before 2020, and the couple recently exchanged rings in a romantic setting in Italy.
Ronika Stone and Jordan Love got engaged in Italy
Three years after making partner Jordan Love Instagram official in 2020, Stone exchanged rings during a romantic trip to Italy. It was in a 13th-century castle called Castello di Celsa, Tuscany, where Jordan Love sat on his knee to propose to Stone.
The couple shared a combined Instagram post to announce the news with fans. The post featured pictures of the two posing inside the castle, including a snapshot of their after-proposal candle-lit dinner. After the proposal, the couple went ahead exploring the city before making their way back home.
