“This dude is gonna get killed”: NFL fans react as Myles Garrett avoids sacking open rookie QB Dillon Gabriel at Browns camp
Myles Garrett turned a lot of heads with one play during the Cleveland Browns' Tuesday practice session. The pass rusher is getting to know the new quarterbacks, Dillon Gabriel, Shedeur Sanders and Kenny Pickett.
A video shared by Daryl Ruiter showed the 2023 Defensive Player of the Year facing his offensive line, which didn't put up much of a fight against Garrett. He easily got close to Gabriel, who looked like easy prey, before Garrett slowed down and avoided tackling him.
Fans didn't mince words with their reactions.
"Omg lmao this dude is gonna get killed," one fan said.
Others focused on Gabriel's throw, which didn't satisfy a group of fans.
Myles Garrett is ready to go against anybody in the NFL, as he sent a clear warning to Aaron Rodgers, the new Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback. Speaking about this addition, Garrett made it clear he wouldn't go easy on the four-time NFL MVP.
Dillon Gabriel gets honest about facing Myles Garrett
Going against a player as dangerous as Myles Garrett is a challenge for any player. Talking with Irie Harris of Cleveland.com, Gabriel explained the effect of clashing against a player of Garret's caliber.
Q: What’s it like for you to look across and see Myles Garrett over there and know that you’ve got to operate with someone like that across [from you]?
“Well, yeah, I think in one play you definitely see that, in one of the team periods," Gabriel said. "But very happy he’s on our team, but also, he’s just his competitor. That’s what you look forward to; playing against the best and him being able to be out here today and get us to compete, that’s huge and getting everyone back together.”
The Browns still have a decision to make regarding their starting quarterback. Removing Deshaun Watson, they have four quarterbacks with chances to start next season. Gabriel is one of two rookies, alongside Shedeur Sanders, in the mix to start for the AFC North franchise.
