"This is not your job": Cowboys owner Jerry Jones loses his cool at incessant questions on franchise's offseason decisions

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones fired back at some of the criticism around his team's offseason decisions. The Cowboys suffered a blowout 47-9 loss to the Detroit Lions in Week 6 on Sunday and Jones was not in a cheerful mood to address some of the incessant questions around the team.

On Tuesday, Jones made an appearance on Shan & RJ 105.3 The FAN and was questioned about some moves Dallas made in the offseason. However, the Cowboys' owner quickly got defensive and vented out his frustrations.

"This is not your job," Jones said. "Your job isn't to let me go over all the reasons that I did something and I'm sorry that I did it. That's not your job. I'll get somebody else to ask these questions. I'm not kidding.
"You're not going to figure out what the team is doing right or wrong. If you are, or any five or 10 like you, you need to come to this (NFL) meeting I'm going to today with 32 teams here, you're geniuses."

Jones then took a few digs at the radio hosts, before admitting that he felt "sick" watching his Cowboys team collapse against the Lions on Sunday.

"You really think you're gonna sit here with a microphone and tell me all of the things that I've done wrong without going over the rights? Listen, we both know we're talking to a lot of great fans, a lot of great listeners. And I'm very sorry for what happened out there Sunday. I'm sick about what happened Sunday."

Jones' Cowboys made bold offseason moves by giving long-term contract extensions to quarterback Dak Prescott and wideout CeeDee Lamb. Prescott signed a four-year, $240 million deal just before Week 1, while Lamb inked a four-year, $136 million extension late in August.

Extensions for the two key offensive stars were supposed to set the tone for a competitive season for the Cowboys. However, Dallas is currently third in the NFC East with a 3-3 record.

Despite the Cowboys' struggles this season, Jerry Jones asserted that he has no plans to fire coach Mike McCarthy.

While it's still relatively early in the season, the Cowboys' setbacks have not put them out of contention for the playoffs. Dallas has reached the playoffs in each of the past three seasons and the Cowboys are well and truly in the hunt to qualify for the postseason and even compete for the NFC East title this season.

Since Jerry Jones took charge of the Cowboys in 1989, the team has won three Super Bowls: XXVII (in 1993), XXVIII (in 1994), and XXX (in 1996).

However, Jones has come under criticism from a small section of the Cowboys faithful since the team hasn't won the Lombardi Trophy in the past 28 years.
