"This don't make no sense" - Frustrated Eagles star Darius Slay throws NFL All-Pro media voting under the bus

Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Darius Slay has been one of the best cornerbacks in football the last few years. Drafted by the Detroit Lions in 2013, Slay didn't make his first Pro Bowl until the 2017 season but has improved ever since.

This season, he was named a Pro Bowler while leading the Eagles' secondary, which was the top-ranked unit in the NFL.

Broncos Patrick Surtain II

Slay recorded 55 tackles, 14 pass break-ups and three interceptions this season. He thought he did enough to be named an All-Pro and spoke about it on "The Volume":

"I gotta address another issue. Come on, man, who watching film with the All-Pro list? Who watching it? How do I get voted for the All-Pro by players in the league that plays the game, but don't get the All-Pro from the media? Like what else I need to be doing out there. You know what I'm saying.
"That coulda been real good on my resume. A five-time Pro Bowler and a two-time All-Pro, I would've accepted second team. I'mma give credit where credit is due. The best cornerback in the game right now today is Pat Surtain. And after Pat, I'm thinking I'm right there at No. 2 right now, 2 or 3.
"Ya'll gotta fix that kind of voting. We need to get more players involved in this All-Pro stuff, becasue this don't make no sense. All the guys that's on the list was really, really balling, but come on, man, I was on the No. 1 pass defense, made the Pro Bowl, we was the best secondary in the league. Ya'll messing with my gold jacket."
"This should've been my second year All-Pro"

Having been snubbed from the All-Pro team will take a little hit on Slay's NFL resume. He concluded on his rant that not making All-Pro will affect his chances of making the Hall of Fame.

Slay began his career in 2013, but wasn't named a Pro Bowler until the 2017 season. He was named a first-team All-Pro that same season.

He made the Pro Bowl the following two seasons and again in 2021 and 2022.

In his career, he has four defensive touchdowns, 26 interceptions, four fumble recoveries, one forced fumble and 513 tackles.
