"This is a racist guy" - Broadcaster slammed Colin Kaepernick after NFL Combine-slavery comment
Colin Kaepernick's journey since 2016 has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride. The QB hasn't played in the NFL for years, facing immense backlash (and then support) for kneeling during the national anthem.
As Kaepernick focused on activism, the former San Francisco 49ers continued to receive more feedback from the NFL world.
A few years ago, Kaepernick took shots at the NFL Combine, comparing it to slavery. He shed some light on the power dynamic and how the whole system works out.
"What they don't want you to understand is what's being established is a power dynamic," Kaepernick said. "Before they put you on the field, teams poke, prod, and examine you. Searching for any defect that might affect your performance. No boundary respected. No dignity left intact."
His comments came from his limited series, Colin in Black & White.
Though some have continued to shower their love on Colin Kaepernick, others continue to blame him for the disrespect. Either towards the league or the nation.
Journalist Megyn Kelly, while on the The Megyn Kelly Show, referred to Kaepernick as 'insane'.
"Colin Kaepernick... he's insane," the broadcaster said. "This is a racist guy. He really is a racist guy and he hates our country. He hates America.
Kelly spoke on his Netflix special, and how Kaepernick just spoke about how racist the USA is. Instead, she claimed that Kaepernick was the racist one.
Kelly continued:
"Who made him show up to the NFL Combine? To compare that willing and usually dream come true moment for an NFL football player to slavery? How does this wind up on Netflix?"
As per Kelly, someone at Netflix, along with Colin Kaepernick, was promoting this 'bulls*** propaganda'.
Why did Colin Kaepernick kneel?
On September 1, 2016, Kaepernick took the knee before his NFL game. With talks about police brutality and injustice muted in a league like the NFL, Kaepernick's move ended up costing him his career.
Kaepernick's decision was clear:
"It is to protest the injustices that are happening here, the oppression that is happening in America”.
Slowly after Kaepernick's move, other players and celebrities took to commenting on the same. As the intensity increased, more athletes joined in to support the former 49ers QB.
Unfortunately, Kaepernick himself hasn't played in the league since January 1, 2017.
