“Harder to catch a cold beer than a football” – When Drew Brees somehow ended up tossing beers with Brad Pitt, Matthew McConaughey
Former NFL quarterback Drew Brees, who spent 15 out of his 20 professional seasons in New Orleans, has left a big legacy in the city and is heavily involved in it.
Acting star Brad Pitt is also a celebrity who has strong ties to the NOLA community and lived there in 2014. Pitt wasn't the only Hollywood star who lived in the area, as Matthew McConaughey lived opposite Pitt's apartment.
Once, while Brees was hanging out with McConaughey, the two spotted Pitt and started chucking beers back-and-forth.
In an interview with TMZ in 2014, Brees recalled the time where the trio were hanging out together in NOLA while talking about his relationship with the two.
Brees said:
"Yeah, Brad Pitt is a guy who has a strong connection with New Orleans. He is making right to the community that he's really building towards. We've actually had the chance to actually buy two houses or refund two houses within that development to help people get back in their homes.
"We had a charity event going on at the same time as his Make it Right event this year in New Orleans, so we kind of bumped into each other. My foundation, the Brees Foundation, partners up with Matthew McConaughey's foundation."
Brees added:
"So the two of us just happen to be on the same balcony as one another, on balcony's across from each other... We actually threw him (Pitt) a football, he threw us a beer from one balcony to the next.. both were caught! Probably was harder to catch a cold beer than a football"
That same evening, Brees and McConaughey headed to the House of Blues for a Kenny Chesney concert benefiting McConaughey's Just Keep Livin Foundation and Brees' Brees Dream Foundation, and the two got on stage with the country singer.

Brees holds multiple passing records in Saints franchise history. He has the most passing yards, completions, touchdowns, highest completion percentage and many other franchise records.
He retired after the 2020 season on Mar. 14, exactly 15 years after signing his first contract with the team.
