Titans stadium investigation underway as police discover human remains in parking lot: Report

Distressing news emerged out of Tennessee as the human remains were discovered in the Titans stadium by the police. Based on initial reports, a body was found wrapped in a tarp but it has since been clarified that the tarp was found close to the disturbing discovery rather than together.

Channel 5 reported that a dead individual was found inside a tent near Lot M of the stadium. At the moment, there is no suspicion of foul play involved, as per the police. They say that the deceased person is reportedly an unhoused individual who has not been seen for a couple of days and his acquaintances have been on the lookout for him.

It is a horrific and sad story to report from a site that is aiming to become a premier entertainment and real-estate destination for decades to come.

Titans stadium redevelopment in progress

This tragic piece of news came as the Titans are in the process of redeveloping their stadium. The new Nissan Stadium is expected to open in 2027, adjacent to their current arena of the same name. It is expected to be demolished once the new Titans stadium is completed and the area is expected to be used for mixed-use development.

The current Titans stadium was opened in 1999 and will have served the franchise for nearly three decades. The new venue will also be on a 30-year lease, at least, as per the franchise's official website.

The total cost of the project is supposed to be $2.1 billion, with most of the funding coming out of the public purse. Forbes reported:

"In an agreement reached with the city and state, the Titans will handle $840 million of the funding, while public money pays for $1.26 billion of the project in lieu of paying to update Nissan Stadium."

It came about after it was estimated that around $1.75 to $1.95 billion could have been needed over the next 17 years to maintain the current Nissan stadium. That is why this is seen as a better deal, with a key selling point being that the franchise will be on the hook for any cost overruns.

It is expected that by building this fully enclosed Titans stadium, Tennessee will be able to attract the Super Bowl and other marquee collegiate events. Having originally moved from Houston as the Oilers, this deal is expected to cement their status as Tennessee's team for years to come.
