Tom Brady to auction blood-soaked Michigan jersey for $250,000 from his 'GOAT collection': Report
Tom Brady had a Hall of Fame career that stretched over two decades. Now, football fans can get their very own piece of history as the former NFL quarterback has launched a "GOAT Collection: Watches & Treasures from Tom Brady" auction through Sotheby's.
One of the items listed is the quarterback's University of Michigan jersey which still has blood stains on it. Brady wore the jersey for the 2000 Orange Bowl, a game in which he led the Wolverines to a 35-34 win over the Alabama Crimson Tide. The jersey is estimated to sell between $150,000 and $250,000.
In an interview with Sotheby's, Brady reflected on the meaning of the jersey.
"Orange Bowl jersey is particularly special to me. This win and performance springboarded me into a 23-year NFL career, now broadcasting and hopefully NFL ownership. Looking back, this was the defining moment in my college career,” Brady told Sotheby's.
Memorabilia from Tom Brady's iconic NFL moments up for auction
On December 10, 2024, sports memorabilia collectors will have the opportunity to bid on some of Tom Brady's most prized possessions as part of the "GOAT Collection: Watches & Treasures from Tom Brady".
Items such as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers jersey Brady wore when he passed the all-time career passing yards mark in October 2021 against the New England Patriots. The jersey is expected to sell between $400,000 and $600,000.
Several Rolex watches from Brady's extensive watch collection will also be up for auction. The Rolex Dayton could auction for an impressive $900,000.
The quarterback's first-ever Pro Bowl jersey from 2002 (from the 2001 season) with the iconic Pro Bowl logo will also be up for grabs. That jersey is expected to be auctioned off for anywhere between $250,000 and $500,000.
Also up for auction will be the helmet that Tom Brady wore during the offseason when he had just signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020. It was during the COVID-19 lockdowns and getting a new helmet was impossible at the time so he took his New England Patriots decals off his old helmet and used that to train in.
"I laugh when I see that helmet. I wore it for an entire off-season, and it was a big part of the end of my playing career,” Brady told Sotheby's about the helmet.
Football collectors will have an opportunity to bid on that helmet as well for approximately $400,000.
