Tom Brady breaks silence on viral 'thirst trap' underwear photo
Tom Brady's new year started with another retirement announcement, this time for good. The star quarterback was ready to stop playing, putting a sudden end to his illustrous career. What no one expected, however, was a thirst trap from the star who retired days ago.
While attending the premiere of the movie "80 for Brady," the 45-year-old icon sent his fans into a frenzy after posting a photograph on Instagram. Brady posed in Brady Brand underwear, promoting it himself.
While on the "Let's Go!" podcast, Tom Brady finally addressed the photo. Brady made fun of the situation and promised not to share any more thirst traps. Of course, a promotion for his brand was a must.
"It's Valentine's Day, go buy some Brady brand.com Get your favorite underwear. They're actually amazing. I'm wearing them right now and I promised not to share too many more of those photos.
"It is a little easier to do when you don't have to walk into a locker room the next day, I will say that because when if I did that and walk in the locker might have gotten a lot of sh*t. But it's nice when I'm away that I only hear from a few of the people that like to give me sh*t. So I didn't have to deal with the whole team doing it."
Even NFL stars were in shock over Tom Brady's risque image
Along with fans, even NFL stars couldn't help but comment on Brady's viral image.
Speaking on the "New Heights" podcast, Jason and Travis Kelce brought up Brady's photo and even mentioned his ex-wife Gisele Bundchen. Travis first spoke about Brady unretiring, wondering if Brady would do so after 'thirst-trapping' them all.
"He's thirst-trapping us man. Freshly retired, he's got a lotta time," Travis said.
Jason responded:
"He learned a few things from Gisele."
Travis replied by asking Jason to 'chill out' about the situation. Bundchen, who confirmed her divorce with Tom Brady last year, is one of the most popular models in the world.
That being said, even Julian Edelman was intrigued by Brady.
"Looks like Tommy Boy is getting in the old thirst trap game. Lighting, I don't know. I mean, it's good," he said. "The background is great. Is it a green screen? I don't know. Do you know?"
With a contract with FOX awaiting him, this might not be Brady's last promotional shot for his brand after retirement.
