Tom Brady clowns ex-teammate Julian Edelman over Week 12 appearance on Fox
Tom Brady has been Fox's lead NFL analyst for almost three months now, and so far he has been garnering mixed reviews. One of his old teammates has since made an appearance for the network, and he could not help but laugh.
On Sunday, former New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman showed up to the Fox NFL Kickoff pre-game show. He proved very lively, matching his turtleneck sweater with a demeanor that the legendary former quarterback could only giggle at in an Instagram Story:
"Chill out Ron Burgundy"
Brady will return to the booth early in Week 13 when he calls the New York Giants-Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving game. He expressed surprise at having to work on the holiday during "The OT" postgame show.
He said:
"Coach Belichick used to say, 'football starts after Thanksgiving,' and they've (now) won eight games. If they want to get to the Super Bowl they have to win at least another eight or nine to get there so still a ton of football to be played."
That was when host Curt Menefee reminded him of his job, to which he could only respond, "What?"
Rob Gronkowski defends Tom Brady over sportscasting gig
There have been many supporters and detractors of Tom Brady's tenure at Fox. The former camp thinks his winning experience makes him well-informed over what teams need to do to win while the latter camp thinks he came simply for his name value - and that is not to mention his troublesome part-ownership of the Las Vegas Raiders that has limited what he can discuss.
Another of his former teammates, Rob Gronkowski, is a supporter. Speaking at "The Tradition" awards event at TD Garden, he said:
"I love seeing Tom out there. I mean, the guy has made tremendous improvement from week one to whatever week it is now.
"That’s Tom’s work ethic. That kind of translates. That’s how he was on the football field. If he messed up, he would figure out how to get the job done in the meeting room, see what he did, make the corrections, and go back out on the practice field and develop as a player and not make the same mistake."
The Giants-Cowboys game will kick off at 4:30 PM ET with Brady once again in the booth as he gets ready for the tail end of the first year of his $375 million deal with Fox.
