Tom Brady demotes Eagles, Lions, favors Patrick Mahomes' Chiefs in Week 16 NFL Power Rankings
It's Week 16, which means Tom Brady has once again updated his power rankings for Fox Sports. The seven-time Super Bowl champion landed a monster 10-year, $375 million deal with the network and has been plying his trade with them in the broadcasting booth this season.
Brady's power rankings have become a weekly thing with the Kansas City Chiefs top of his list for the most part. The Detroit Lions had taken over the top spot there for a few weeks. Not anymore.
Brady has given Patrick Mahomes' Chiefs the top spot after Week 15's round of action, given the fact that they are firmly in the running to wrap up the No. 1 seed in the AFC.
As a result, two teams have been demoted - the Detroit Lions and the Philadelphia Eagles. The Lions slipped to 12-2 after suffering a 48-42 loss. However, they are still in firm control of the NFC's top seed.
Meanwhile, Jalen Hurts and A.J. Brown put all rumors of locker room unrest to bed with a convincing 27-13 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. That win was only good enough to see them at number two.
The Buffalo Bills, who beat the Lions on Sunday evening, take the No. 3 spot, followed by Detroit and Minnesota.
What NFL Playoff Picture looks like for Eagles, Lions, Chiefs in Week 16
The Lions and Chiefs are in total control of the No. 1 seeds in their respective conferences. The Bills and Eagles are #2 in the AFC and NFC respectively and it will take a lot for those two teams to take the top spot.
Over on the AFC side of things, the Steelers and Texans have booked their spot in the NFL playoffs, leaving three spots up for grabs. The Ravens, Broncos and Chargers are currently projected to fill those spots.
The Vikings have done their part in the NFC with a 12-2 record but there are four spots up for grabs otherwise. The Bucs, Rams, Packers and Commanders figure to fill in those spots while the Seahawks and Falcons have an outside chance of sneaking in.
