Tom Brady & Gronk or Patrick Mahomes & Travis Kelce? Eagles star picks greatest QB-TE duo of all time

Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce just won their second Lombardi Trophy in just four seasons. They look to be one of the greatest duos in NFL history. But are they better than Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski, who won four Super Bowl titles together?

Darius Slay, cornerback for the Philadelphia Eagles, who just lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl XLII, credited the two for being the best.

On the "Volume Sports" podcast this week, Slay said that he believes Kelce and Mahomes will go down as the best tight end quarterback duo ever. He said he was a fan of Rob Gronkowski and Tom Brady, but Mahomes and Kelce are just different:

"The 15 and 87 connection, you've got to respect it. They arguably gonna go down as the best two tight end and quarterback duo ever. We know Tom Brady and Gronk is up there, but them two, man they knocking on the door. I'm vouching for them. I think they gonna be the greatest ever.
"Well, even though I like Gronk, and I like Tom, but them boys are different. You know they are two different type of players both of them. And that's a great connection, that's just like when Shaq and Kobe in the Finals and they just going crazy, you know what that's saying? Hard to stop. And the only way you stop them is to double team them."

Slay went on to compare the Chiefs duo to the likes of Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal. Saying that when Kobe and Shaq were in the playoffs, they were unstoppable much like Kelce and Mahomes.

Darius Slay then said that the only way to stop the success of the Kansas City Chiefs duo is to double team them. But clearly no team has found an answer when it comes to that theory either.

High praise coming from a member of the Philadelphia Eagles defense who was the most recent squad to face the dynamic duo.

Patrick Mahomes takes a dig at Chiefs critics

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs brought another Super Bowl parade to the city on Wednesday afternoon. The 27 year old quarterback and his team celebrated their second Lombardi Trophy in just four years.

After the parade, the team took to the stage to thank their fans and continue the celebration. Mahomes took the microphone and mentioned how critics said that the Chiefs would be rebuilding after the trade of Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins:

"Before we started this season, the AFC West said we were rebuilding. I’ll be honest with you, I don’t know what rebuilding means. In our rebuilding year, we’re world champs."
“In our rebuilding year, we’re World Champs.”

The quarterback went on to say that he doesn't know what 'rebuilding' means. He touched on the fact that during a season where they were supposed to struggle, the Chiefs have emerged as champions.

He then went on to say that the Kansas City Chiefs aren't done just yet. Fighting words from the Super Bowl MVP and perhaps a warning to all the other franchises.
