Tom Brady lays down the "only way" to beat Lions after 6-game win streak

Tom Brady broke down how opponents can pose a threat to the Detroit Lions' excellent offense. The NFC North team is on a roll after nine weeks of the 2024 NFL season, leading its division and looking like a serious candidate to play in Super Bowl LIX.

During a Wednesday appearance on Colin Cowherd's "The Herd," the seven-time Super Bowl champion talked about how other teams could snap the Lions' six-game winning streak. For Brady, it would take a collective effort to move past Dan Campbell's team.

"So when you play the Lions, the only way to beat them is to play a style where the offense complements the defense, and then the kicking game does their job. Sometimes, when you punt, you play great field position, okay? Offensively, the best defense against the Lions, offense, to me, is to possess the football. You don't want to make it a track meet against a team that can run it. They throw it to their tight end." (2:22 mark)

Detroit passed another test in Week 9 against the Green Bay Packers, dominating them with a 24-14 win that could have been worse if the Packers didn't score eight points in the fourth quarter.

They had control of the game at every moment, with Jared Goff and co. doing everything they wanted on offense and the defense holding Jordan Love back the majority of the duel.

They boast a 7-1 record and look like a major threat to the still-undefeated Kansas City Chiefs in a potential Super Bowl matchup. Tom Brady even compared them to the early Indianapolis Colts he faced during his first years in the league.

The Lions added star defender ahead of 2024 NFL trade deadline

Despite losing Aidan Hutchinson with a serious leg injury during the Lions' 47-9 win over the Dallas Cowboys on the road, they kept winning and looking strong on both ends of the ball. If that wasn't enough, they traded for Cleveland Browns pass-rusher Za'Darius Smith before the trade deadline struck on Tuesday.

This is a major addition to the defense, as Smith was part of a still competitive defense in Cleveland, but Detroit could give him more chances to shine. If that's not scary enough, Dan Campbell hasn't ruled out Hutchinson coming back later in the season if this squad makes it to the Super Bowl.
