Tom Brady leaves Dak Prescott out of 2024's top 5 NFL QBs list
Former NFL quarterback Tom Brady listed his top five active quarterbacks ahead of the 2024 NFL season and he did not have Dak Prescott on his list. Prescott is the Cowboys' starting quarterback and is entering the final year of his deal.
Brady had Patrick Mahomes ranked No. 1 and quickly rattled off his next three quarterbacks:
"I see Josh Allen as someone who always impresses me as a player. I see Lamar Jackson who always impresses me as a player. Joe Burrow is vert impressive the way he throws the ball. Another guy who's got a great connection with his teammates."
As Brady was thinking about his fifth-ranked quarterback, Stephen A. Smith said he would choos3 Aaron Rodgers, which Brady quickly agreed with.
Tom Brady's top five quarterbacks Mahomes, Allen, Jackson, Burrow, and Rodgers would likely be a consensus from most NFL fans, but Prescott's name wasn't even talked about.
Prescott has been the Cowboys' starting quarterback since 2016 and has gone 73-41 as a starter throwing for 29,459 yards, 202 touchdowns and 74 interceptions.
Jerry Jones expects Dak Prescott to remain a Cowboy
Dak Prescott is entering the final year of his cureent deal that will see him make $55.1 million in 2024.
Although Prescott doesn't have an extension yet, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he doesn't think 2024 will be the last year of Prescott as the starting quarterback in Dallas.
“I don’t think so,” Jones said, via The Athletic. “Just to be very specific. I do not think this will be his last year with the Cowboys, at all. Am I being psychotic relative to my mirror? No, no. It’s pretty clear, I think.
"I want to say if it hasn’t been clear — of how much we appreciate what Dak Prescott has meant to this team in a positive way. The players do play better when he’s out there. He does make his teammates play at a higher level there’s no question about it. So I’m right there in line with his best fan.”
Prescott and the Cowboys are coming off a disappointing wild-card loss to the Green Bay Packers last season.
Dallas will open the 2024 NFL season on the road on Sept. 8 against the Cleveland Browns.
