Tom Brady opens up on Damar Hamlin's tragic on-field collapse - "Moments like this put into perspective what it means to play this game we love"

Last night, during the Buffalo Bills vs. Cincinnati Bengals game, Damar Hamlin suffered one of the most horrific injuries in sports history when he was knocked unconscious while making a tackle.

The safety tackled Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins, and a second after he got back up to his feet, he fell and collapsed, needing CPR performed on him.

He was later sent to the hospital and is currently in critical condition.

Brady tweeted this morning, sending a prayer to Hamlin while thanking the Buffalo and Cincinnati communities for the care and support they've provided.

Brady Tweeted:

"We’re praying for Damar and his family this morning in Tampa. Moments like this put into perspective what it means to play this game we love. Thankful for our communities in Cincinnati and Buffalo for the overwhelming level of care and support I know they’ll continue to provide."

Damar Hamlin's injury occurred in the first quarter with 5:58 left in the game.

The game was delayed, and the Bills and Bengals were sent to their locker rooms to discuss whether or not they wanted to continue with the game.

Per Joe Buck, once officials gave each team 5 minutes to warm up before resuming play, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor walked across the field and consulted Bills HC Sean McDermott. Both coaches then sent their teams to their respective locker rooms. Such a classy move by Taylor.

After discussions, the league and the teams decided to postpone the game as a result of the unfortunate situation.

With last week looming this weekend, the game is expected to be rescheduled within the next few days, but no official word has been announced yet.

Both the Bengals and Bills are still expected to play their season finales in Week 18 on Sunday, although things could change given last night's circumstances.
