Tom Brady outlines vision for Raiders ownership with 7x Super Bowl champion’s NFL owner’s stake still in limbo
Seven-time Super Bowl champion quarterback Tom Brady has outlined his vision for his ownership of the Las Vegas Raiders. Since retiring from the NFL, Brady has been trying to be a part-time owner of the Raiders.
Brady has his eyes set on owning a team for some time now, but he is facing backlash due to his commentary job. However, Brady says he wants to maximize his earnings since retiring, which is why he wants to be a part-time owner.
“I loved my time playing for Coach Belichick and playing for a great organization that tried to do the right things that really brought the best out of all of us. Now I’m on the other side of it, I’m sitting here in England, I have ownership of a soccer club and hopefully ownership of a football club at some point," Brady said on Let's Go! (16min mark)
"I want to see the same thing for those players too. I want to maximize their potential. I want to take all the lessons I’ve learned, being a part of working with great people, to do the exact same thing in a different way.”
Due to Brady being in talks for a part-time ownership of the Raiders, the former quarterback is not allowed to attend broadcast production meetings (in-person or virtually) and may not have access to team facilities or players and coaching personnel.
Brady retired after the 2022 season, finishing a 23-year NFL career with the New England Patriots (20 seasons) and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (three).
NFL puts restrictions on Tom Brady
With Tom Brady being a broadcaster for FOX now, along with trying to be an NFL owner, the league has put restrictions on him.
Associated Press senior NFL writer Rob Maaddi revealed that the NFL has placed restrictions on Brady for his broadcasting job.
"NFL says restrictions on Tom Brady start immediately because his potential transaction to purchase part of the #Raiders is pending. He’s not permitted to attend broadcast production meetings (in-person or virtually) and may not have access to team facilities or players and coaching personnel.
"Fox staff is not subject to these limitations. He may broadcast Raiders games. He also has to abide by the league constitution and bylaws that prohibit public criticism of officials and other clubs."
Brady has now called two games. The seven-time Super Bowl quarterback is expected to call the Dallas Cowboys vs. Baltimore Ravens Week 3 game on Sunday.
