Tom Brady raves about Baker Mayfield's "ridiculous" play against 49ers

Yesterday, Tom Brady was again in the booth to cover the 49ers versus the Buccanneers after previously calling games in Week 1, 3, 5, 7 and 8. As the game was on, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield's effort for his team to extend a crucial fourth-quarter play did not go unnoticed and caught the attention of the teams' former QB, Brady.

Impressed with what Mayfield did by connecting with RB Rachaad White on a clutch fourth-down conversion, TB12 in his on-air commentary exclaimed:

“That was ridiculous. That’s one of the best plays I’ve ever seen a quarterback make.”

That said, Baker Mayfield wrapped up the game with 116 yards and a TD. After losing to the 49ers, the Bucs are looking forward to Week 11 to play against the New York Giants.

Switching gears, Brady called Mayfield's play "one of the best" and is making headlines given their strenuous exchange in September.

Baker Mayfield claimed Tom Brady made the Tampa Bay Buccaneers locker room "stressed out"

One month ago, QB Baker Mayfield joined the “Casa de Klub” podcast with Corey Kluber and Tyler Casagrande and took a jab at his team's former star Tom Brady.

Accusing TB12 of fostering a "high-strung environment," Mayfield said:

“The building was a little bit different with Tom in there. Obviously, playing-wise, Tom is different. He had everybody dialed in...so I think everybody was pretty stressed out. ... They wanted me to come in, be myself, bring the joy back to football, for guys who weren’t having as much fun.”

To which, Brady, when asked about his junior's comment, later said:

"I thought stressful was not having Super Bowl rings. So, there was a mindset of a champion that I took to work every day. This wasn’t daycare. If I was going to have fun, I’d go to Disneyland with my kids."

He continued:

“There’s a way to approach this game and it’s with the right mindset to try to push each other outside our comfort zone, and great teammates do that. You come, I have someone like [Rob] Gronkowski, I have someone like Evans -- there’s high expectations for us. We got to make sure we go out there and deliver.”

After this, Mayfield clarified how his statements were taken out of context and agreed that Brady's strict leadership style was the secret behind his winning mentality.
