Tom Brady's ex-Bucs teammate Lavonte David explains why he didn't roast 7x Super Bowl champ at Netflix's 'GROAT'

It's been months since Tom Brady's Netflix roast, but its hype still remains among fans. Brady's former teammate Lavonte David was one of the panelists of the Netflix roast. But despite that, the Buccaneers star didn't roast the Patriots Hall of Famer.

On the first episode of 'NFL Spotlight,' David recalled his experience at Brady's Netflix, revealing the reason for not roasting his former teammate.

"No, I was never a possibility," David said. "You know, I'm sure they know that I probably wouldn't have got up there to say anything because I don't think I could have the rules, the way some of those you did." (Timestamp: 35:02)

Before talking about not roasting Tom Brady, Lavonte David shed light on his "great experience" at the roast. According to the Buccaneers star, the best part about the event is being present on the panel and still not getting roasted.

"That's the best part," David said. "Nobody was doing no jokes. I mean, I was just sitting back you know. Some VIP stuff. Just listen to everybody roast Tom, but it was a great experience.
"Got a chance to see a lot of like you said a lot of Legends, you know, and then some old teammates got a chance to see those guys."

Adding further, Lavonte David also shared the story behind getting the tickets to Tom Brady's roast.

"I was just checking my emails I got and it popped up about another Tom Brady roast," David added.
"They invited me. They wanted me to join, get on stage to be a VIP guest. I was like shoot, why not? I used to like roast. I never seen one in person. Never been to one. So I was like, 'you know being in LA. Great city'. So I was like, why not?"

Kevin Hart sides with Tom Brady's regret over Netflix roast

The Netflix roast came down hard on Tom Brady, considering the comments about his family. In an interview after the podcast, the Patriots HOF expressed regret over the event. Kevin Hart shed light on Brady's regret in an interview with Bleacher Report.

"I can side with Tom and see where he’s coming from and just him wanting to protect the idea of family and the conversation attached to that," Hart said.
"That’s probably where that’s coming from. And you know, I’m not privy to whatever he dealt with after, so I know his response and saying something about it was a result of possibly that," Kevin Hart said. (Timestamp - 1:13:16)

Apart from Lavonte David, former Titans head coach Mike Vrabel also shared his take on Tom Brady's Netflix roast. As for the roast, many fans found it a little inappropriate. However, Brady's former teammate Julian Edelman revealed how it was a little close to inappropriate but fun at the same time.
