Tom Brady totally shot down this post-retirement career option: "I don't have the patience"

Tom Brady may be weighing his options for next season, but according to a past interview, coaching will not be in his future plans. The 45-year-old quarterback stated in an interview with Zack Cox of NESN in 2016 that he doesn't believe that he would be a good football coach. He said that he enjoys playing football but that he doesn't have the patience to coach the game.

"Coaching wouldn't be for me. No, certainly not," Brady said, per Zack Cox of NESN in 2016. "I like playing. I wouldn't be a good coach. I don't have the patience to be a coach."

While Tom Brady stated those sentiments back in 2016 when he was just 39 years old, it's probably safe to say that he still feels the same way six years later.

On his "Let's Go" podcast, the quarterback told co-host Jim Gray that, although he has a lot of experience and football IQ, one would have to have the desire to want to coach to pursue the career.

"Obviously, I have a lot of experience playing. I have a lot of knowledge and there’s, I’d say, a lot of capabilities to doing that coaching, but the desire to do something like that is totally different.”

If he announced his retirement from the NFL, many would be hesitant to believe him after his 40-day retirement stint. While the quarterback doesn't have experience coaching football, he also doesn't have experience in the broadcast booth. Yet, he has already signed the most lucrative broadcasting contract ever.

So, whether Brady decides it's time to stop playing or give it another season, his post-playing plans have already been set in stone.
