"So sick of alleged Christians sitting silent" - Tony Dungy criticism for bizarre transgender tweet angers Jason Whitlock
NFL legend Tony Dungy has come under heavy fire for his tweet which was in response to a video posted by The Daily Wire. In the video there were conversations about possibly putting menstrual products in men’s restrooms, which is likely geared towards transgender men.
In response to the video, Dungy posted what is now a deleted tweet.
"That’s nothing," Dungy tweeted. "Some school districts are putting litter boxes in the school bathrooms for the students who identify as cats. Very important to address every student’s needs.”
Who are the current Super Bowl favorites?
Dungy was battered from every which way, and such was the level of heat, sports personality Jason Whitlock took it upon himself to support Dungy.
"The backlash against Tony Dungy is well-orchestrated and not remotely organic," Whitlock tweeted. "The motive is to outlaw a biblical worldview. The anti-God agenda is so strong and obvious. I'm so sick of alleged Christians sitting silent while someone like Tony has his character assassinated."
But Whitlock's tirade didn't stop there, adding to his original tweet:
"Cowards! All of you. So scared of your secular masters. You choose your satanic liberal puppet masters over Tony Dungy, a man who has done nothing but help us. Cowards! Nothing infuriates me more."
What did Tony Dungy say about transgenders?
Dungy's tweet was likely poking fun at the Daily Wire's video as he was making a joke that schools were providing litter boxes for students who identify as cats.
This is clearly making fun of transgender people who identify as men or women, and as expected, the former coach received an earful from people on social media.
This isn't the first time the Super Bowl-winning coach has made headlines for his unique thoughts. When Michael Sam, a gay defensive lineman, was drafted in 2014 by the St. Louis Rams, Dungy stated that he wouldn't want to deal with all of it.
Dungy led the Indianapolis Colts to a Super Bowl win and has made his name as an analyst since his coaching days have been over.
Dungy currently works for NBC Sports as an analyst, and it remains unclear if his tweet will get him in hot water with the network.
