Travis Kelce clears the air on potentially leaving the Chiefs under one condition
Will Travis Kelce ever leave the Kansas City Chiefs? It's unfathomable right?
Yet, the question will linger among NFL fans despite the fact that Kelce is now 34 years old and will be 35 in October, bang in the middle of the 2024 season.
On the New Heights podcast this week, one fan posed the question of whether Travis Kelce would play for any team apart from the Chiefs. Kelce's response was:
“F--k yes. I’m waiting to play for a team other than the Chiefs. That’s the only situation, is if I get to play abroad."
Kelce's comments went viral on social media (since they were picked up by Twitter aggregators and taken out of context) so the 3x Super Bowl champion felt compelled to come out and issue a clarification.
Replying to the video talking about his wish to play for a team other than the Chiefs (but only if the team was based in London), Kelce said:
"Let's be honest, I'd never leave the Chiefs. But playing in London sounds fun."
At this point, Kelce's the face of the NFL alongside Patrick Mahomes, considering the pair have won three Super Bowls over the last four years. Their first win came in 2020 at the Hard Rock Stadium against the San Francisco 49ers, followed by a win over the Philadelphia Eagles last year, and one over the Niners once again this year.
As Kelce said, it's difficult to see him leaving the Chiefs under any pretense.
Travis Kelce's relationship with Taylor Swift growing Chiefs' fandom around the world
A year ago, Taylor Swift made waves by showing up to a Kansas City Chiefs game to cheer Kelce on. Since then, it's been a whirlwind, to say the least.
Everyone from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt has acknowledged Swift's impact on the NFL, who has added a whole new dimension to the league's fanbase.
Carolina Panthers icon Greg Olsen attested to the same in an interview with People. Olsen said:
"Travis is super gracious with his time, and I think it's great. There's a whole new fan base. I mean, I have an 11 year old daughter, so I get it firsthand.
"I think it's great for everyone. I think it's great for the game and the league and yeah, I think there was a lot of fans excited to see the guys."
