Travis Kelce gets candid on Lamar Jackson’s future - “I just want him out of the AFC”
Lamar Jackson recently revealed that he has requested a trade from the Baltimore Ravens. His tweet confirming the news gave rise to expectations that Jackson will no longer play for the Ravens and will be seen on a new team next season.
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce recently spoke about Jackson's future. On the "New Heights" podcast, Kelce said he wants Jackson to leave the AFC and play for an NFC team next season, as he knows how great of a player the Ravens quarterback is.
"In my mind I want him to go somewhere in the NFC man, I just want him out of the AFC dawg.
"The last thing I need is for Lamar Jackson to go to like the Raiders or something. You know what I mean? Go to like Green Bay. I like him in Green Bay. I do think Shanahan-style offense is going to be more suited for him.
"Anybody's going to adjust their playbook no matter who it is. No matter what kind of offensive coach you have, you're going to adjust your playbook to who you have as weapons. So it's like the whole system QB thing whatever. He is the system."
Travis Kelce has faced Jackson multiple times and is aware of the threat that the Baltimore Ravens possess with the former NFL MVP as their quarterback.
If Lamar Jackson ends up getting traded from the Ravens to an NFC team, it could help the Kansas City Chiefs as well as the other teams in the AFC.
Players around the league respect Jackson a lot, yet no team is willing to aggressively pursue him, which is in fact quite surprising.
Lamar Jackson advised not to sign with New England Patriots
There have been rumors surrounding the New England Patriots making a move for Jackson, but the Ravens quarterback has been advised not to sign with the six-time Super Bowl champions.
Former Patriots cornerback Asante Samuel publicly told Lamar Jackson to avoid playing under coach Bill Belichick. This came as a surprise to many, but maybe the Ravens quarterback will remember this advice if the Patriots pursue him.
