Travis Kelce pokes fun at Patrick Mahomes' voice, explains Chiefs QB's viral behind-the-back pass - "I couldn't hear it"
The Kansas City Chiefs continue to inovate. As the team played the Detroit Lions during the preseason, Patrick Mahomes finally unleashed a pass behind his back, wowing everybody that was just watching the game.
It was just preseason, but still, Mahomes throwing the ball was awesome. As he gets into a rhythm for the season, the best quarterback in the NFL having a little bit of fun is nothing to take seriously.
But the play call was... unheard? According to superstar tight end Travis Kelce, he couldn't hear his quarterback screaming the special pass:
"It was a play, the first down. You know, he's got the voice thing. [Mimics Mahomes] So he kind of mumbled out the play. I couldn't hear it. I was walking up to the line. I was like, trying to decipher what he was saying. Before I knew it, he snapped the ball. And yeah then I kind of saw him out of my peripheral run to the sideline. So I was trying to go help my guy out. By the time I looked over there, he was already in mid form, like a photo on a sports card, throwing the ball to me. So it was just, I guess right place at the right time."
The Chiefs lost to the Lions but it doesn't matter. It's preseason and all they want is to get back into rhythm.
Mahomes, Kelce shooting for the history with the Chiefs
The quarterback and the tight end are looking for the third straight ring, which would mean the only and one team to do it. The San Francisco 49ers are the only team that got close to it.
Mahomes is still the best quarterback in the NFL and Kelce is still the best tight end in the league. They also have a great defense with them which will surely help their cause.
With Andy Reid commanding the roster, the chances are great in regards to the coaching staff. With such a powerful duo on offense, vying for a ring should always be possible, especially after doing with twice. The chances will be great for the Chiefs.
