Travis Kelce puts pressure on Chiefs offense after narrow Week 2 win vs Bengals: "Defense is playing their a**es off"

Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs got the win against the Cincinnati Bengals in the nick of time, thanks to placekicker Harrison Butker. The Chiefs won 26-25 at home but the tight end isn’t satisfied. As the defending champions hope to create history by getting a three-peat this season, Kelce highlights the issues within the squad.

The Chiefs are undefeated after two weeks of action at home. However, they were almost scared into submission by the Cincinnati Bengals last week. On his podcast, "New Heights," Kelce admired the Chiefs' defensive unit for keeping them in the game.

“I mean, initial thoughts are we got to play better as an offense,” said Kelce. “I think the defense is playing their a**es off, getting turnovers, finding a way to make opposing quarterbacks uncomfortable.”
“And they're really making it hard for them to throw the ball downfield with the type of pressures that we're getting and how much, how good our coverage is right now.”

Travis Kelce pointed out that the offensive unit has to take on the liability of putting the games to bed. The three-time Super Bowl champion saw several faults against the Bengals, including with himself.

“I just think, we have to match that accountability on the offensive side to really become another Super Bowl-caliber team. I put that on me. I think it starts with the leaders,” he added.
“I think it starts with making sure you're going with the right mentality. I didn't play my best. It spreads if you don't fix it. So, I got to get that thing fixed, man.” [20:17]

Travis Kelce was largely shut down by the Bengals' defense. He received the ball only once in the game for five yards and rushed once.

Travis Kelce & Co. will be on the road for the first time

The Chiefs have disposed of two of the most dangerous teams in the AFC. However, their Week 3 matchup will present them with new challenges. For the first time, the Chiefs will not play at Arrowhead Stadium this season.

Travis Kelce will suit up to face the NFC South outfit Atlanta Falcons on September 22 at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
