Travis Kelce's brother Jason subtly teased Chiefs TE's 70-yard performance as Taylor Swift returned to Arrowhead Stadium
Travis Kelce put his slow start behind him in an impressive performance at Arrowhead Stadium. His brother, Jason Kelce, couldn’t resist teasing his younger sibling about Taylor Swift’s presence at the game.
There had been speculation about Swift's absence at previous Kansas City Chiefs games but she put those rumors to rest on Monday by showing up to cheer for her man against the New Orleans Saints. Although the tight end had not performed at his best in earlier games, he put on a show for Swift.
During the October 9 episode of Jason and Travis Kelce’s "New Heights" podcast, Jason suggested that the noticeable difference in Travis’ performance was due to Swift's presence.
“Travis came up big because he had someone special in the stadium, someone that means a lot to him, and he really tries to always perform well when they're there,” Jason said. [36:00]
Amidst the laughter, Jason went on to claim that the ‘someone special’ was him. Since Jason was working the same game for ESPN at the broadcast desk. Travis Kelce, in the presence of his brother and girlfriend, registered nine catches for 70 yards.
Why did Taylor Swift miss Travis Kelce’s games?
Last season, Taylor Swift attended several of the Chiefs’ games at multiple venues. However, the ‘Cruel Summer’ singer has only been to the Chiefs’ home stadium this season. A source close to her stated to Page Six that the reason behind this is security issues.
“If she is going to a place that isn’t Arrowhead, there are security concerns,” the insider said. “She has worked with Arrowhead so many times, they feel at ease and comfortable. Going to all kinds of different stadiums, you need to send a team in advance.”
Travis Kelce will play his next two games on the road after a bye week. For the Week 7 game, the Chiefs will be in San Francisco, and for their Week 8 clash, they’ll be in Las Vegas. As per the Page Six report, Swift will be unable to attend these games. Chiefs fans would hope that Kelce’s performance doesn’t take a dip because of it.
