Travis Kelce's ex Kayla Nicole outlines how therapy helped her through 'major breakup' and depression
After breaking up with her ex-boyfriend, Travis Kelce, Kayla Nicole went through a tough time where, despite being physically fit, she did not feel the most confident mentally.
In an exclusive conversation with PEOPLE, Nicole talked about her healing process. She realized that although she always felt great after a steamy workout session, therapy became essential, especially after her breakup with the NFL star, Travis Kelce.
She said:
"I'm naturally an anxious person. I've had some bouts with depression, and honestly, my fitness world has saved my life on numerous occasions."
She added:
"It's one thing to be physically fit, but it's another thing to be mentally fit."
The fitness influencer said that even though she was in "really great shape," she had difficulty getting out of bed in the morning.
"Just full transparency, I went through this major breakup, major life change, and I had lost a substantial amount of weight within a very short amount of time."
"So, I started going to therapy and quickly realized, okay, it's one thing to be physically fit, but it's another thing to be mentally fit. You could be in the best shape of your life, but mentally, if you are not a healthy person, it's not going to feel good."
The former Los Angeles Lakers in-game reporter is now relaunching her fitness brand, Tribe Therepe, which focuses on bringing fitness and therapy together.
Kayla Nicole gave a special message to her followers
When the Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift romance rumors were flying high, the Pepperdine graduate refrained from posting online. But after a while, she uploaded a video on Instagram where she tried to inspire her fellow "black girls."
Kayla Nicole recited a "letter" for her followers in the video.
"Dear Black Girl, they may call you a traitor for falling in love, you'll hope the ones closest will protect you. But you will quickly find out that people don't protect what they don't value. They'll say you're too provocative, too boisterous, too outspoken, and in the same breath tell you that you're not enough, not successful enough, not wholesome enough, maybe not even intelligent enough."
The message resonated with many and one of them was D.K. Metcalf's girlfriend, Normani.
