Travis Kelce's ex-teammate Louis Rees-Zammit reveals contents of handwritten note he received from Taylor Swift
Despite his separation from the Kansas City Chiefs, Louis Rees-Zammit has nothing but praises for the team and his former teammates. Talking about teammates, Zammit recently revealed how Travis Kelce's girlfriend Taylor Swift sent him a handwritten welcome note.
On Saturday, RugbyPass released an exclusive interview with Rees-Zammit, during which the Jaguars wide receiver revealed the content of the welcome note from Swift. Talking about the time he attended the Eras Tour in the UK earlier this year, he said:
"I went to her concert and I got a handwritten note from her. This was before training camp. So it was like, ‘Good luck for the season, good luck for training camp. Heard you’re doing well.’ Just stuff like that. That was pretty cool. I didn’t bring it out to America with me." (9:33)
Before talking about Taylor Swift’s handwritten note, Louis Rees-Zammit recalled his initial months with the Kansas City Chiefs and his transition into the NFL. He mentioned his wholesome interaction with Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes before meeting them personally.
"When I signed, I went home for 10 days and got to see some friends before I actually flew back out to Kansas City. I had a message from both Travis and Patrick on Instagram welcoming me to the team. It was pretty crazy the first time I’d seen them in person, but then they’re your teammates," Rees-Zammit recalled. (7:01)
“I got used to it pretty quick. We built connections. We did stuff off the field. That’s what the Chiefs are very good at, the bonding off the field. They’re just normal people. They’re so humble. You see all this stuff in the media, how big they are. But they are the most humble people that I’ve ever met," the wide receiver further added.
The Kansas City Chiefs cut Louis Rees-Zammit in August. Despite this setback, the wide receiver remains a great talent. Patrick Mahomes is one of those who is aware of his immense potential in the league.
Patrick Mahomes' take on Louis Rees-Zammit's potential
Before Louis Rees-Zammit's separation from the Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes praised his then-teammate for his potential to make it big in the league. During an appearance on 'Riggle's Picks' podcast in June, Mahomes said:
"We are starting him at running back. He'll do a lot of special team stuff, and he can actually catch. So it looks different. He catches it like he's catching a rugby, but he never drops the football, so you don't complain about it. And I think what's been the best part about it is he works his tail off." (27:37)
"The athletic ability is unreal. He's got the toughness, but until he gets in the game and understands how to move and how to use that athletic ability, you don't know exactly where he's at. But [when] he's in space, man, he can make stuff happen," Mahomes further added.
After the Chiefs cut Rees-Zammit, he joined the Jacksonville Jaguars as a wide receiver. The former rugby star is still struggling to make his NFL debut despite traveling to the UK for the Jaguars London NFL series.
Do you think fans will get to see Zammit show his potential to fans on the field this season?
