Travis Kelce sends love as Xavier Worthy announces engagement to girlfriend Tia Jones after romantic beach proposal
Xavier Worthy has not even begun his professional career yet, and already he has attained a milestone.
On Tuesday, the record-breaking Kansas City Chiefs rookie wideout and his erstwhile girlfriend, sprinter Tia Jones, announced their engagement via an Instagram video of him proposing to her behind a giant heart-shaped wreath and a bed of roses on the beach:
One of his teammates who reacted was star tight end Travis Kelce:
Fellow wideouts Marquise Brown and Justyn Ross, safety Nazeeh Johnson and the Chiefs organization also put out similar messages.
It is unknown exactly when Worthy and Jones first met and started dating, but it first became public knowledge on draft weekend:
Other NFL players react to Xavier Worthy, Tia Jones' engagement announcement
As it turns out, it was not just Kelce and the Chiefs celebrating. Players from other teams, most of them Worthy's fellow rookies, also reacted.
A fellow wideout, Indianapolis Colt Adonai Mitchell, jokingly claimed to be crying:
"Man why tf my eye sweating."
The Seattle Seahawks' Byron Murphy II, who became engaged some days ago, wrote:
"Yessir my boy."
Meanwhile, Philadelphia Eagles sophomore cornerback Kelee Ringo said:
"Gives chills brother."
Washington Commanders rookie cornerback Mike Sainristil, who now has a baby girl with his girlfriend Seliana Carvalho, could not help but be excited:
"Yeaaaaaa."
Travis Kelce cannot wait to share the field with Xavier Worthy
Travis Kelce's excitement for Xavier Worthy cannot be understated. After years of struggling with WR strength since the departure of Tyreek Hill, the Chiefs have seemingly found a potential cornerstone in the former Texas Longhorn (as well as free agency signing Marquise Brown).
Speaking during OTAs last month, the nine-time Pro Bowler called general manager Brett Veach's maneuvering for them "unbelievable":
"Just being able to get to know them over this offseason, it's just been cool that Hollywood and X are just, they're down to Earth, humble guys and they love coming to work and they love football."
He continued:
"When you bring that kind of mentality into a building that has culture already set, the sky is the limit for those guys. I'm excited that they're here."
The Chiefs' preseason practice commences on July 21.
