Travis Kelce sought advice on Cowboys' failed 3-peat attempt, reveals Michael Irvin - "That's all he wanted to talk about"

Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs are coming off back-to-back Super Bowl victories. They now have the chance to create history by becoming the first team to 3-peat. There's no one better in the NFL who knows better about a missed 3-peat chance than Dallas Cowboys legend Michael Irvin.

Irvin was a guest on Monday's episode of "The Jim Rome Show." When asked whether the Chiefs can 3-peat this season, Irvin recalled a conversation about meeting Travis Kelce during a Dallas Mavericks game. The Cowboys icon said that the Chiefs tight end sought advice about from him about their failed 3-peat pursuit.

Irvin revealed that he still ponders about all the things the Cowboys could've done in 1994 to 3-peat. Jerry Jones fired then-head coach Jimmy Johnson over their feud, which hampered their chances to create history.

He advised Kelce to take lessons from his regret and told the Chiefs TE to leave no stone unturned.

"I said to him, 'whatever you do, do all you can do to make that happen. Don't leave nothing on the table. Because I'm telling you, if you leave anything on the table and you don't get it, you will think about it for the rest of your life like I do. He hugged me and said, 'Man, that's what I needed to hear man.'"

Irvin continued, praising Travis Kelce's single-minded focus on a 3-peat and added that the Chiefs are built to create history this season.

"I think just him thinking about that. We're in a NBA game and that's all he wanted to talk about. I give them a great chance at 3-peating because it was on his mind that quick after winning a championship. That's what it takes. It's the job that you never leave."

Travis Kelce and the Chiefs will enter the 2024 season as favorites to 3-peat

The Kansas City Chiefs have begun their training camp and have a singular focus on their minds - a Super Bowl 3-peat. The Chiefs added star wide receiver Marquise "Hollywood" Brown in free agency.

They drafted Xavier Worthy, who's building an excellent chemistry with Patrick Mahomes. The duo have looked lethal in the training camp. The Chiefs also extended Travis Kelce on a two-year $34.25 million deal.

Andy Reid recently lauded the players' effort in winning two Super Bowls and their goal in going for the third. He said that the quest for a 3-peat begins with structure in training camp.

General Manager Brett Veach and Andy Reid have assembled a solid roster this offseason, much better than the 2023 season. Barring any significant injuries, this will be Kansas City Chiefs' Super Bowl to lose.
