Trevor Lawrence's absence leaves wife Marissa “sad” as QB reports for Jaguars training camp

Trevor Lawrence is practicing football again, and his pregnant wife Marissa is already missing him. On Wednesday, the Jacksonville Jaguars' starting QB reported for preseason camp alongside a slew of veterans that includes running back (and fellow 2021 first-round pick) Travis Etienne and linebacker Josh Hines-Allen (formerly Josh Allen).

Marissa shared the post of him arriving at camp on her Instagram story with the following caption:

Trevor Lawrence reveals love for country music

American football has been seeing a plurality of its players preferring hip-hop. However, Trevor Lawrence may not be a member of that group.

A reporter from Starrcade Media caught up with Lawrence at last week's American Century Championship on the shore of Lake Tahoe, Nevada, where he was among many active and retired NFL players participating in the celebrity golf tournament. There, the one-time Pro Bowler was asked which summer concert(s) he liked the most.

Lawrence's response was two country artists:

"This summer, I went to George Strait and Chris Stapleton. Really good."

Trevor Lawrence optimistic about teammate's future

Speaking of the American Century Championship, it represented a homecoming of sorts for one of Trevor Lawrence's teammates: wide receiver Elijah Cooks, who played five seasons at the University of Nevada in Reno (an hour's drive away from Lake Tahoe) before transferring to San Jose State in his birth state of California, then joining the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent in 2023.

Since then, Cooks had just three catches from four targets for 38 yards in 14 games (including nine starts). However, Lawrence believes he has the potential to eventually become a starter, telling Nevada Sports Net:

"I think he's done a great job. Obviously, we've got a crowded receiver room, so he's gonna have his work cut out for him. But I think he's made of the right stuff. I definitely think he can do it and be a really valuable asset for us and make a lot of plays for us. I'm excited to see him continue to develop."

The Jaguars will take a break from camp on Sunday.
