Trevor Lawrence, wife Marissa deliver major update after Jaguars QB's scary hit
Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence and his wife Marissa provided updates on Trevor's condition after a scary hit he took on Sunday against the Houston Texans. Late in the first half, Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair hit Trevor Lawrence in the head as the quarterback slid for a first down.
Concern started to rise around Lawrence as replays showed he exhibited what is known as the 'fencing posture' indicating that he had suffered trauma to the head.
Lawrence was immediately ruled out of the game as the Jaguars lost to the Texans, 23-20.
On Sunday night, Lawrence delivered an update on social media platform X, writing:
Thank you to everyone who has reached out / been praying for me. I’m home and feeling better. Means a lot, thank you all🙌🏼
Lawrence's wife Marissa also penned a post on her Instagram story, saying:
"Thank you for all the texts and prayers. just taking time to make sure he's okay and get healthy but we appreciate all the support and love."
Lawrence and his wife Marissa announced in June that they are expecting their first child. In July, they shared they were having a baby girl.
Texans' CJ Stroud issues message to LB Azeez Al-Shaair after Trevor Lawrence hit
Texans quarterback CJ Stroud discussed the hit on his Jaguars counterpart in a postgame interview on the field. Stroud told FOX Sports sideline reporter Laura Okim:
"It was tough to see [Trevor Lawrence] go out like that. Azeez, I don't think that was his intent. It sucks to see a player ever go down. I'm always trying to pray over both teams whenever we take the field. Everybody wants to leave the field healthy. Prayers go up for Trev."
Stroud also went out of his way to defend his teammate Al-Shaair for the hit.
"I'm still rocking with my brother. I know he didn't mean it. He didn't intend to do that. He's got to be more careful."
That win means the Texans are now 8-5 heading into their Week 14 bye. They have firm control over the AFC South with the Indianapolis Colts second at 6-7.
