Trouble mounts for Isaiah Buggs with Chiefs newcomer's hookah lounge set to shut shop

Chiefs pass rusher Isaiah Buggs is facing serious legal trouble. He is fighting allegations of burglary, animal cruelty and domestic violence. Additionally, his Hookah lounge may also be in jeopardy.

While Buggs has yet to be convicted, his Kings Hookah Lounge has elected to voluntarily suspend their business license, per ABC 3340 and a post by the business on Facebook.

The Tuscaloosa, Alabama-based business was scheduled to have a hearing that could have shut down the business permanently.

Isaiah Buggs has joined a growing list of Chiefs players facing controversy or legal troubles. Rashee Rice faces eight felony charges for a high-speed hit-and-run in late March.

The team recently narrowed down their punting group to only Matt Araiza, who was accused of being connected to a gang rape in San Diego State.

Kicker Harrison Butker also faces backlash over sexist comments made earlier this offseason during a college commencement speech.

In addition, the team failed to secure public funding for renovations at Arrowhead Stadium this offseason as well. Additionally, a shooting took place at the team's Super Bowl victory parade.

As such, the team's unusually controversy-laden offseason has set some up to believe that the Kansas City Chiefs could start the 2024 season on a different footing.

For most teams, Isaiah Buggs' arrest would have been the team's first arrest of the year. However, the pass rusher's arrest was the fourth of the 2024 offseason. In addition to Isaiah Buggs, two practice squad players and Rashee Rice have been arrested.

According to KOMU, offensive tackles Wanya Morris and Chukwuebuka Godrick were arrested for misdemeanor marijuana possession charges. Unlike in a perennially growing number of states, marijuana is illegal in Kansas City.

The two were arrested on Thursday, May 16, shortly before midnight. Both have posted bonds and are free for the moment. Morris played in Super Bowl 58 in five snaps on special teams.

Andy Reid can only hope that the run-ins with the law end with four.
